Cape Town-based photographer, Michael Walker is the Chief Photographer at the Cape Times, South Africa.
Michael’s passion for photography was ignited as a young child from then on, he grew at home behind the lens to become an award-winning photojournalist. He has worked both locally in South Africa and globally in Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa and USA as a freelance and news photographer. He has captured some of the most exciting times, important events and historical figures in this young democracy’s history.
His accolades and awards include the Photograph of the Year in the Fuji Photo Press Awards, the Gold Shield at the London International Film Festival and high commendations in the Fuji Photo Press Awards, Mondi Shanduka and the PPSA.
He is also Lewis Pugh’s official photographer and in 2010 accompanied Lewis to the foot of Mount Everest to capture the highest cold water swim in history.
